"Tamil Movies: Educating Or Misleading The Public?"
Are Tamil movies educating or misleading the public? Some movies seek to provide answers to problems faced by society and individuals while other movies insist on focussing their complete attention on trivial matters such as love.

Why is that?
Is it right?
Is it time for a change?
What sort of change should it be?

Answers...answers...answers. Forever seeking answers.

"The Truth Is Out There. In Search of It."

when guys in problem/mess, go get yourself drunk

when girls in problem/mess, go commit suicide.

if a girl get raped, do whatever possible to get married to the rapist.

plagiarizing is ok, as long make some adaptation and alteration.

12. "Of all the people here who voted MISLEADING"
Im voting educating. Yes thats right Im voting educating, movies are educating.
But that depends on who watches the movie and wat movie your watching.

Much like Rajini and Kamal, being picky to release a single movie in a year. I too watch selective hits.
The most recommend movies.

I see the movies to be educating, because I listen to the VASANUM. That is, I listen to the lyrics and to their lines. I realized many don't do that!

You guys are viewing objectively, not subjectively....... Only time you listen to a character is when there is a one line catch phrase. That goes the same with the songs, how do you think Muquabula got popular.......GOOD dancing, and the song is easy to summarize......... Can anyone tell me wat the hell is the meaning to MUQUABULA?

Even look at all the Rajani movies, can any of you remember any line from any movie that didn't include a catch phrase.......... Remember, this line "MUTALUKU ORU VALI, In tha UMBALATARUKU AIYURA VALI"..... I was sure this was a catch phrase, only many of you must of been the MUTAL!
to not notice this.

Then there was another line, same movie(MUTHU).....said by Rajini......I don't believe it became popular either, it goes something like this "KEDAIKURATHU KEDAIKUM, KEDAIKATHATHU KEDAIKATHU"

I believe this line is pretty educating, teaches you a lesson on life......but people failed to recognize this......

And the only scenes you guys do see is people getting drunk, raped, kissing scenes, etc. (I call this the STONE ANGEL)

16. "There are some....."
There are tamil movies that may not be inspiring but definitely take an effort to pass a message to the public....for example 'Indian' deals with the problem of bribery at higher levels, 'Desia Geetham' with the poverty and lack of facilities in the villages, 'Mudhalavan' with corruption and so on.

Not passing a message is no problem but I hope tamil movies don't show things that give ideas to the public to go the wrong way. For example, the murder scene in the movie 'Assai' where Prakash Raj kills his wife.....and the way in which he holds his baby under the rain so that he/she gets sick! It was pathetic!

although english movies are leagues ahead in terms of story and quality, there are some that may help to boost the crime level.....there is a new movie coming out called 'Gone in 60 seconds'.....it shows how the hero and heroine steal 50 odd cars in a day, and ways by which u can steal each car within 60 secs. How useful is that to the public?

17. " me votes for ..."
definetley misleading...
yaroo... sonna mathi..thola thanga mudhyalla...

ovaritharukum ovaru ninaypu...

a freak from our school ...once had the nerve to actually blast full length.." naan thum adhikira styla pathu..thanalakshmi..." blah blah..
there was another freak... .. i think everytime he sees a tamil girl, this is what he does... he blasts this one particular song.... "nee kathru naan marum,..ena sonalum thalathuven..." three days in a row.... do u have any idea how annoying that is???....

then there those truely pathetic... who decide age doesn't matter... an example 16 yr old girl standing for the bus every day... 30 yrs old geezer.. sees her everyday... what does he do .. he decides that he's" likes." her.... so what does he do.. he decides to make it a point to bother her every single damn school day... waving... oogling. the whole works... what does he think... that hes "romancing" her like in the movies.. what does girl think.. that hes stalkin her... this is how sad the world has come to be....

i'm not just blaming guys.. some t. girls are just as freaky... the way some ppl dress... its just messed up... and the way they treat "their guys"..its relly sad..as if they are nilambari or somethin.. what da heck????
then there are those who disgrace.. the genders.. both guys and girls.. 1st period there with one guy or girl .. and the 2nd period there with another.... and what do they do at lunch talk on there stupid phone.. i have actually witnessed this in our school and its plain SICK!!!!

the worst thing of all is the " infatuation" crap... the guy and girl touch... they fall in love.. electricityam!... ehn vittula misaram illayenthra?.... there some who really do fall in love but... how many relationships will last based on looks?

I'm not blaming movies entirely its just most youths of today are very IMPRESSIONABLE,,, AND
the messages out there are sad..
( geez.. i feel like i'm some old geeser or somethin)

as one of u said.. rape= suicide or marrying the freak that did that to u..
and so on...
ahhh what is the world coming too??????....

21. "Don't feel like an old geezer..."
If talking about the way things are now is being an old geezer, count me in.

It's sad how young adults are impressionable nowadays.

I've heard of stories of how some Tamil teenagers/adults fight over a gal. Thats pathetic. Like a comedian said in a movie, "Mannuku saahurathu punniyam. Ana, ponnuku saahurathu kevalum."

20. "I agree..."
I agree with your notion that even if movies don't want to contribute to the healthy growth of the society, they should never hinder progress by providing idiotic ideas to the public.

For example, most people have seen so many love or love-related stories, that each and every movie-goer is a veritable fountain of wisdom on the subject of love. I can deal with one or two love stories, but the way Tamil directors are numbing our senses with their love films is really irritating at times.

Of what use will showing such films be to society? None, whatsoever!

63. "RE: There are some....."
Movies, music, novels... none of those things create crime. People are the cause of crime. Idiot parents not teaching their kids right from wrong are the cause of crime. If you go out and mimic something that happened in a movie, that's not the movie's fault, that's your fault and yours only.

Think about it. Adolph Hitler went and killed millions of Jews. What movie was he watching? What kind of music was he listening to? Jeffrey Dalmer ate people. What movie did he get that from, and what kind of music was he listening to?

Of course violence and crime happen in movies, but where do you think writers and directors get their ideas? from reality, from things they see in their everyday life. If I want to see violence I'll go downtown, I don't need to go to them movies to see that.

The only reason people point their fingers at movies is because they need a scapegoat. Movies aren't going to fight back.

I would finish this, but I have to get to work.

Later.

18. "i think..."
it all depends on the movie goers. all movies have some lesson in them, it's up to the ppl who are seeing to recognize it.
movies are for enterainment, watch it for 2 hours. talk at the good parts, good things for two days. and that is about it. it's enterainment. movies has to make things obvious, and maybe misleading, but it's all done to prove the movies' lesson(s).

as for ppl who copy the stars, it's just not done in tamil. everyone does it. it shows their interest. i see ppl everyday singing to their fav song, either it's tamil, english, chinesse or any other language. and for girl dressing in star like clothing...it is also done in all other cultures...it's about the style of the clothing not about the ppl who wear them. ppl don't necssarily mean they want look like them, it just means that they like the style.

22. "That can't be it..."
Directors and others who make the movie have a duty to do for the public. They can't just go on showing idiotic things to the public in the name of entertainment. They have to be more responsible than that!

You said people wear "filmy" clothes not necessarily because they want to but, because they like the style? That doesn't make sense. Why would you do something that you don't want to?

You said that all movies have some sort of lesson in them. Your right. But most movies have bad lessons.
